Job summary

Blue Origin LLC is seeking an applications software engineer to join the Chassis Tester Software team in the Greater Seattle area. You will design and implement production-quality Linux software drivers for test instruments and build automated test frameworks that verify flight-critical hardware.

Qualifications

• BS in CS/EE/CE or related field.
• 5+ years software engineering experience.
• Expert Python — write clean, testable, maintainable code.
• Experience developing software on Linux.
• Networking stack experience: socket, UDP/TCP, telemetry.
• Hands-on hardware interface software experience (drivers, SCPI/VISA).
• Experience with automated test frameworks (pytest).
• Strong Git workflow, CI integration.
• Ability to debug across hardware-software boundary.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement production-quality Linux software drivers for test instruments (power supplies, DMMs, oscilloscopes, signal generators, DAQ).
• Own the driver lifecycle: characterization, implementation, integration testing, and documentation.
• Collaborate with avionics hardware engineers to define operating envelopes and validate driver correctness.
• Architect and extend automated test execution frameworks and Themis for pass/fail criteria and reporting.
• Own and evolve the Platform Integration Layer and platform integrations.
• Design networking architecture for multi-instrument, multi-UUT test configurations.
• Build and maintain deployment automation (Ansible) for test system configuration management.
• Develop operator-facing GUI/CLI tools for configuring, executing, and reviewing tests.
• Prioritize usability, reliability for non-software users on the test floor.
