Job summary

Raytheon’s Advanced Airframes Department in Tucson, AZ seeks a Senior Mechanical Engineer to lead design and analysis of aerospace mechanisms and structures on-site. You will develop prototypes, manage suppliers, and support testing to meet aerospace standards.

The candidate should have a STEM degree with 5+ years of relevant experience (3+ with Advanced Degree), strong CAD and GD&T skills, and demonstrated leadership and collaboration across teams. Occasional travel may be required.

Qualifications

• Degree in STEM with 5+ years of relevant experience, or an advanced degree with 3+ years.
• Experience in mechanical design and/or manufacturing processes, or tooling processes, or related disciplines.
• Experience creating, releasing, and updating engineering drawings using a 3D CAD tool with GD&T.

Responsibilities

• Conceptualize and implement technical solutions across the product lifecycle, including proposal development, design, manufacturing, integration, testing, and support of missiles, launchers, and related hardware.
• Act as a Responsible Engineering Authority (REA) and often perform project management for subsystems or systems.
• Conduct mechanical design analyses to ensure form, fit, and function of applications.
• Lead small teams across disciplines to deliver design solutions and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
• Mentor less experienced engineers and contribute to technical excellence.
