Collins Aerospace, a leader in aerospace technology, seeks a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer for a focused, cross-functional team. You will develop reliable products meeting customer requirements at competitive cost, handling complex components within larger projects with minimal direction.

The role calls for a STEM degree with 5+ years (or an advanced degree with 3+ years) in mechanical design, aerospace experience preferred, and NX expertise.

Qualifications

• Degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) with 5+ years of experience, or an Advanced Degree with 3+ years.
• Experience in mechanical design for aerospace environments preferred.
• Familiarity with ANSI ASME Y14.5 tolerancing and stack-ups.

Responsibilities

• Review product specifications and determine design requirements and scope of work.
• Perform effort and duration estimates for tasks.
• Collaborate with Systems Engineers on requirements convergence planning.
• Design layouts and calculate stack-ups for components and major cost studies.
• Develop new products and processes while maintaining existing ones.
• Review drawings for clarity, conformance, and dimensioning accuracy.
• Coordinate with engineering teams to ensure timely project completion.
• Provide technical leadership and train less experienced engineers as needed.
