Collins Aerospace seeks a Principal Systems Engineer to design and integrate advanced electromechanical actuation systems for aerospace applications. You will lead architecture, drive requirements, and ensure safety and reliability across mechanical, electrical, and software subsystems.

You will guide V&V strategies per DO-160/178 and ARP standards, mentor teams, and collaborate with suppliers and customers to achieve certification and program goals.

Qualifikationen

• Degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) with 8+ years experience or an Advanced Degree with 5+ years experience.
• Experience in systems engineering, including architecture, requirements management and integration.
• Experience with electromechanical actuators, power electronics, and aircraft systems (avionics/interfaces).
• Experience with system verification and validation; MBSE tools (Cameo) and requirements management (Polarion).

Aufgaben

• Lead system architecture development for electromechanical actuation systems (actuator mechanics, drive electronics, power distribution, lighting interfaces).
• Define, allocate, and manage system-level requirements across mechanical, electrical, software and electronic subsystems.
• Conduct system-level trade studies: motor/gear sizing, electrical loads, actuator dynamics, thermal, EMC.
• Oversee safety and reliability activities: FHA, FMEA, SSA.
• Develop and align program schedules across cross-functional teams; integrate actuation hardware & power electronics.
• Define and execute system-level verification and validation (V&V) strategies per DO-160, DO-178, ARP4754A/ARP4761.
• Engage with suppliers and customers for technical discussions, design reviews and certification.
• Mentor junior engineers and contribute to engineering process improvements.
