Job summary

Collins Aerospace is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer for an onsite role in West Des Moines, IA. You will own mechanical design activities from concept to production, using SolidWorks and ANSYS Workbench to create robust solutions that meet cost and quality targets.

The role emphasizes cross-functional collaboration, design for manufacturability, and lifecycle support across IPTs to deliver reliable aerospace components from concept through service.

Qualifications

• Requires STEM degree or higher with related experience.

Responsibilities

• Design and review mechanical components and assemblies using SolidWorks and ANSYS Workbench.
• Perform thermal and structural analyses to evaluate performance and support design decisions.
• Conduct fatigue and durability assessments to predict product life.
• Develop technical documentation and participate in design reviews.
• Collaborate within Integrated Project Teams to meet customer and quality standards.
• Apply DFM principles to optimize production across multiple processes.
• Identify and mitigate design risks with FMEA and improvements.
• Provide lifecycle support including troubleshooting and disposition of nonconforming hardware.
• Develop engineering solutions for MRO activities and supporting documentation.
• Partner across functions to resolve challenges and improve performance.
