Beauty Quest Group in Rantoul, IL, is seeking a Senior R&D Chemist to lead aerosol hair care formulation development, scale-up, and technical support. You will own projects from concept to commercialization, collaborating with Marketing, Regulatory, Quality, Procurement, and Operations, while mentoring junior staff.

The role emphasizes expertise in aerosol systems, packaging components, and a broad range of hair care products beyond aerosols. On-site work with a strong safety culture is required.

Qualifikationen

• Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or related scientific field required; Master's or PhD preferred.
• 5+ years of cosmetic or personal care formulation experience, with at least 3 years in hair care.
• 3+ years of hands-on aerosol formulation experience strongly preferred.
• Broad knowledge of hair care product categories and ingredient technologies.
• Strong working knowledge of aerosol components and spray behavior.
• Experience taking products from concept through launch including scale-up and plant trials.
• Familiarity with CARB VOC, MoCRA, and global regulatory restrictions for cosmetics.
• Proven ability to lead projects, manage priorities, and communicate technical information.

Aufgaben

• Lead development and optimization of aerosol hair care formulations, including propellant selection.
• Develop non-aerosol hair care products and apply hair science knowledge.
• Own project timelines from brief to launch and translate concepts into targets and cost-effective solutions.
• Design and lead experiments using DOE to meet performance, stability, safety, and regulatory targets.
• Lead aerosol packaging assessments: cans, valves, actuators, gaskets, and spray performance.
• Conduct analytical testing (viscosity, pH, density, spray pattern, etc.).
• Ensure formulas meet regulatory requirements and partner with Regulatory on claims.
• Prepare and approve technical documentation and batch records.
• Lead pilot/plant trials, scale-up parameters, and troubleshooting.
• Mentor junior chemists and lab technicians and improve lab processes.
