Job summary

Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems in El Segundo, CA is seeking a Principal Aeronautical Engineer – Subsystem Design Engineer to lead subsystem development for avionics, control surfaces, and propulsion interfaces within an Integrated Product Team.

Candidates should have a STEM degree with related experience, proficiency in CAD tools (CATIA/NX/SolidWorks), and a strong grasp of requirements management, testing, and producibility.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or higher in a STEM field with related engineering experience.
• Proficiency with CAD and BOM creation (CATIA, NX, SolidWorks).
• Experience with subsystem test planning, execution, troubleshooting, and hardware-in-the-loop or bench testing.
• Active U.S. Government Secret clearance and PAR/SAP access requirements.
• Familiarity with manufacturability considerations and configuration management processes.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop subsystem components meeting performance, weight, and reliability requirements.
• Translate system-level requirements into subsystem specifications and drawings.
• Perform trade studies, analyses, and simulations to validate concepts.
• Create and maintain technical documentation, including schematics and BOMs.
• Plan, execute, and analyze subsystem tests and resolve design deficiencies.
• Support integration and interface activities with other engineering disciplines.
