Job summary

SEMCO Energy Gas Company is seeking a Senior Advisor, Incident & Emergency Management to lead the development and ongoing strengthening of our emergency management program across our natural gas utility operations.

The role requires 8+ years of progressive experience in emergency management, strong knowledge of ICS and EOC operations, and the ability to coordinate with operations, engineering, safety, regulators, and community partners to ensure preparedness and effective incident response.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of progressive experience in emergency management or related fields.
• Knowledge of ICS, EOC operations, and crisis management practices.
• Ability to lead cross-functional teams and influence stakeholders during high-pressure situations.
• Bachelor’s degree in Emergency Management, Public Safety, Homeland Security, Engineering, Environmental Science, or related field.
• Professional certifications such as CEM, FEMA PD Series, Business Continuity certifications are assets.

Responsibilities

• Lead development and improvement of SEMCO’s Incident & Emergency Management Program.
• Develop and maintain emergency plans, procedures, and readiness tools.
• Support EOC activations, ICS operations, and crisis response.
• Coordinate preparedness initiatives across the utility.
• Design and facilitate exercises and drills to strengthen readiness.
• Lead after-action reviews and drive continuous improvement.
• Build relationships with regulators, emergency responders, and stakeholders.
• Provide leadership briefings and strategic recommendations.
