Job summary

Washington Gas, part of AltaGas, seeks a Sr. Advisor, Incident & Emergency Management to strengthen emergency preparedness, incident response, and resilience across the organization.

You will lead development and improvement of emergency programs, provide SME guidance during incidents and EOC activations, and collaborate with Operations, Engineering, Security, Legal, and leadership to ensure readiness and rapid recovery from significant events.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Emergency Management, Homeland Security, Public Safety, or related field (equivalent experience considered).
• 8–10 years of progressive emergency management or related operations experience.
• Experience supporting emergency response, preparedness programs, exercises, and investigations.
• Experience working in ICS and EOC environments.
• Experience coordinating cross-functional teams during complex events.
• Strong communication, facilitation, problem-solving, and stakeholder engagement skills.
• Ability to remain effective under pressure and provide timely leadership recommendations.

Responsibilities

• Lead the development and continuous improvement of the Incident & Emergency Management program.
• Develop and maintain emergency response plans, procedures, and playbooks.
• Provide SME guidance to leadership on preparedness, response, and readiness.
• Coordinate response activities during emergencies, incidents, severe weather, and disruptions.
• Support EOC and ICS activations and lead designated roles as assigned.
• Lead emergency exercises, drills, and readiness assessments.
• Conduct preparedness assessments and risk/hazard analyses to strengthen resilience.
• Lead after-action reviews and ensure lessons learned are incorporated into plans.
• Build relationships with external agencies, regulators, and mutual aid partners.
• Provide leadership with updates, metrics, and recommendations.
