Job summary

SEMCO Energy Gas Company is seeking a Senior Advisor, Incident & Emergency Management to lead and strengthen our emergency management program across natural gas utility operations. You will serve as the organization’s subject matter expert for preparedness, incident management, crisis response, and resilience.

In this highly visible role, you will partner with operations, engineering, safety, security, public affairs, and regulators to ensure effective response and recovery from emergencies.

Responsibilities

• Lead the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of SEMCO's Incident & Emergency Management Program
• Develop and maintain emergency response plans, procedures, playbooks, and readiness tools that align with regulatory requirements and industry best practices
• Support emergency response activities, including Emergency Operations Center (EOC) activations, Incident Command System (ICS) operations, severe weather events, infrastructure disruptions, and crisis situations
• Coordinate emergency preparedness initiatives, risk assessments, resilience planning, and operational readiness activities across the utility
• Design and facilitate emergency exercises, training programs, tabletop simulations, and drills to strengthen organizational preparedness
• Lead after-action reviews and corrective action processes to capture lessons learned and drive continuous improvement
• Build and maintain strong relationships with emergency management agencies, regulators, public safety organizations, industry partners, and community stakeholders
• Provide leadership briefings, preparedness reporting, and strategic recommendations to support operational and executive decision-making
