Job summary

Life Care Centers of America in New Market, VA is seeking an Activities Assistant to support the Director of Activities by planning, organizing, and directing quality activities for patients, ensuring their recreational, physical, intellectual, spiritual, and social needs are met in line with Life Care standards.

This role requires a high school diploma, with geriatrics experience preferred, and a valid driver’s license.

Qualifications

• High school graduate or equivalent.
• Prior experience with geriatrics preferred.
• Valid driver’s license with satisfactory driving record.
• Must read, write, and understand English.

Responsibilities

• Assist in planning, developing, organizing, implementing, and evaluating quality activity programs (includes entertainment, exercise, relaxation, and education).
• Appropriately and descriptively chart patient progress and behavior.
• Escort patients to and from activities.
• Make regular in room visits to patients uninterested or unable to participate in group activities.
• Exhibit excellent customer service and a positive attitude towards patients.
• Assist in the evacuation of patients.
• Communicate and function productively on an interdisciplinary team.
• Sit, stand, bend, lift, push, pull, stoop, walk, reach, and move intermittently during working hours.
• Read, write, speak, and understand the English language.
