Job summary

Blue Origin is seeking a Thermal Engineer to lead active thermal control design for the MK1 Lunar Lander. You will develop modules and assemblies, analyze performance, and collaborate with cross-functional teams from conception through flight operations.

Strong CAD, manufacturing, and verification experience are essential. Applicants should have a BS in mechanical or aerospace engineering with 5+ years in thermal engineering, and ideally an MS/PhD.

Qualifications

• BS in mechanical or aerospace engineering or equivalent required.
• 5+ years of relevant thermal engineering experience.
• Expertise in thermal and fluid design fundamentals.
• Experience building and testing thermal hardware.
• Understanding aerospace hardware verification and validation.
• Experience with CAD software, preferably Creo.
• Experience managing hardware EBOMs, drawings and manufacturing artifacts.
• Ability to work across cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop module and vehicle level active thermal components from conception through development and flight operations.
• Support development of active thermal components and assemblies.
• Collaborate with multi-discipline teams to mature designs.
• Work with the thermal analysis group.
• Produce specifications, test plans and reports.
• Analyze thermal performance using various techniques including Thermal Desktop models.
• Develop short- and long-term development plans.
• Make make-or-buy decisions for thermal components.
