Job summary

Blue Origin is seeking an experienced Thermal Engineer to lead the design and development of passive thermal control systems for the MK1 Lunar Lander. You will work from conception through integration and flight operations, collaborating with cross-functional teams and the thermal analysis group.

Candidates should have a BS in mechanical or aerospace engineering with 8+ years in thermal engineering, strong hardware testing experience, and a proven track record of delivering aerospace thermal

Qualifications

• BS degree in mechanical or aerospace engineering or equivalent.
• 8 years of relevant Thermal Engineering experience.
• Expertise in thermal design fundamentals.
• Proven experience building and testing thermal hardware.
• Understanding of aerospace hardware verification and validation process.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Must be a U.S. citizen or eligible to work in the U.S.
• Experience managing hardware EBOMs, drawings and manufacturing artifacts.
• Experience with cross-functional teams on materials and manufacturability.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop module and vehicle-level passive thermal assemblies from conception through development and flight operations.
• Support internal or external development of passive thermal components and assemblies.
• Collaborate with multi-discipline product teams to mature designs.
• Work with the thermal analysis group and mission environments.
• Produce specifications, test plans, and test reports.
• Analyze thermal performance using a range of analysis techniques.
• Develop short-term and long-term development plans.
• Decide make or buy for thermal components.
