Job summary

CarMax seeks a Senior Coordinator in Accounts Payable at its Home Office in Richmond, VA. The role supports general ledger activities, researches escalated items, and analyzes liabilities to determine next steps. You will perform month-end duties, journal entries, reconciliations, and reports for business areas.

The position requires 3+ years in business finance, GAAP knowledge, and strong Excel; onsite at the Richmond campus with opportunity for impact across teams.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; Bachelor's degree in business a plus.
• 3+ years of related experience; 2+ years in accounts payable or receivable preferred.
• GAAP knowledge desirable; strong Excel skills with intermediate functions.

Responsibilities

• Drive day-to-day procure-to-pay process execution and resolve complex exceptions.
• Provide guidance to resolve outstanding liabilities and analyze variances.
• Perform weekly trend analysis and support workload balancing with KPIs.
• Record expenses, reconcile GL accounts, and prepare monthly journal vouchers.
• Adhere to laws, SOX controls, and company policies; communicate updates to stakeholders.
• Serve as a point-of-contact for internal customers and external partners.
• Initiate process improvements to speed funding/refund and mitigate risk.
• Support cross-functional projects and coordinate with Accounting Leadership.
