Job summary

CarMax is seeking a seasoned professional to support the Accounting Operations Business Support & Analytics function at the CarMax Home Office in Richmond, VA. You will drive automation, analytics, and AI-driven solutions across Accounting Operations and enterprise partnerships.

You will partner with cross-functional teams to implement scalable data platforms, dashboards, and predictive insights while applying GAAP knowledge and strong project leadership.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree preferred or equivalent experience.
• 5+ years of accounting, finance, business operations, analytics, automation, or related experience required.
• 3+ years of experience in business analytics, process improvement, data engineering, automation, or operational excellence preferred.
• Experience developing solutions using Alteryx, RPA, Python, Power Platform or similar analytics platforms preferred.
• Experience utilizing AI or Machine Learning technologies to improve processes or decision-making preferred.
• Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) required.
• Data analytics experience and proficiency managing data with SQL required.
• Tableau or Power BI experience preferred.
• Experience working with cloud-based analytics platforms and modern data architectures preferred.
• Experience building automated workflows, bots, predictive models, or intelligent process automation solutions desirable.

Responsibilities

• Review, analyze, and optimize accounting operations processes, identifying opportunities for automation and efficiency gains.
• Design, develop, and support AI-enabled, RPA, and workflow automation solutions.
• Utilize tools such as Copilot, Claude, Alteryx, Python, SQL, Power Platform to transform and analyze data.
• Develop advanced analytics, dashboards, and reporting for leadership and partners.
• Serve as SME for process improvement, automation, and data governance.
• Lead strategic projects focused on operational transformation and continuous improvement.
• Partner with Accounting, Finance, Technology, Compliance to deliver tech-driven solutions.
• Evaluate emerging AI and ML capabilities to support business objectives.
• Document processes, automation solutions, and technical requirements for scalability.
• Identify innovative approaches to improve customer experience and outcomes.
