Job summary

CLA is seeking a Senior – Accounting Methods to join our Federal Tax Strategies team. The role focuses on tax strategies related to accounting methods, including timing and character of income, expense recognition, inventory, capitalization, and cost recovery to meet tax objectives.

You will conduct research on accounting methods issues, collaborate on client projects, and mentor staff while maintaining a high level of integrity and urgency in delivering results.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• 2 years of relevant experience required.
• Eligible to sit for CPA exam preferred.
• Experience in business services, public accounting or consulting preferred.
• Experience in accounting methods preferred.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel and Access preferred.

Responsibilities

• Consult on accounting methods-related issues including automatic and non-automatic accounting methods changes including overall methods, revenue & expense recognition, inventory, capitalization, cost recovery and accounting periods.
• Conduct research related to accounting methods tax issues to maintain and expand your knowledge base.
• Participate and collaborate in accounting methods projects, including client interviews, reviewing client data, preparing calculations, analysis, and preparing supporting tax form filings.
• Collaborate with managers, directors and principals, including industry leaders and other marketing and business personnel throughout the Firm.
• Coach or mentor staff to assist with enhancing their skills and further developing their career.
• Demonstrate ability to contribute to multiple projects simultaneously in an effective and reliable manner.
