Job summary

Scion Staffing, Inc. is conducting a search for a Senior Accounting Manager in San Francisco, CA to build and own the accounting function from the ground up within a growing hardware and physical-product environment.

Responsibilities

• Own the monthly close end-to-end, including journal entries, reconciliations, accruals, and financial statement preparation.
• Build and maintain inventory, cost, and manufacturing accounting processes for a scaling hardware business.
• Establish accounting infrastructure, internal controls, policies, and reporting systems while improving AP/AR and cash management.
• Produce accurate and timely financial reporting for leadership, the board, and investors while partnering with Operations, Supply Chain, and Engineering.
• Coordinate federal, state, and sales tax compliance with external advisors and manage annual audit preparation and auditor relationships.
• Help build and ultimately manage the accounting team as the organization grows.

Scion Staffing has been engaged to conduct a search for an experienced Senior Accounting Manager on behalf of a rapidly scaling technology company in San Francisco, CA. This is an exciting opportunity for a hands‑on accounting leader to build and own the accounting function from the ground up within a growing hardware and physical-product environment. As the company’s first senior accounting hire, the Senior Accounting Manager will establish the processes, controls, close procedures, systems, and accounting infrastructure needed to support continued growth. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys building rather than inheriting established processes and who is comfortable personally owning the work while developing a scalable accounting function.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Own the monthly close end-to-end, including journal entries, account reconciliations, accruals, and financial statement preparation.
• Build and maintain inventory, cost, and manufacturing accounting processes for a scaling hardware business.
• Establish accounting infrastructure, internal controls, policies, and reporting systems while improving AP/AR and supporting cash management.
• Produce accurate and timely financial reporting for leadership, the board, and investors while partnering closely with Operations, Supply Chain, and Engineering.
• Coordinate federal, state, and sales tax compliance with external advisors and manage annual audit preparation and external auditor relationships.
• Help build and ultimately manage the accounting team as the organization continues to grow.

QUALIFICATIONS

• 8+ years of progressive accounting experience with significant hands-on, execution-focused responsibility.
• Demonstrated experience with inventory accounting, manufacturing accounting, and cost accounting within a hardware or physical-product environment.
• Experience implementing or owning an ERP system and managing or supporting annual financial audits.
• CPA strongly preferred; Big Four public accounting experience is a plus, particularly supporting manufacturing or hardware clients.
• Proven ability to operate with limited structure, build processes from scratch, and partner effectively with Operations, Engineering, Supply Chain, and other non-finance teams.
• Experience within a venture-backed or high-growth environment is a plus.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

• This exciting direct-hire opportunity offers a salary range of $130,000–$180,000.
• This position is onsite in San Francisco, CA.
