Job description

About the Company

Our client is a growing financial technology company.

About the Role

This is a senior, ownership-level accounting role for someone who wants to set standards rather than just follow them. You'll lead the month-end close, manage contract-driven revenue accounting, mentor team members, and represent accounting in decisions across Finance, Product, and Operations. This role is well suited to someone with a public accounting foundation who works independently and enjoys solving complex problems.

Responsibilities
  • Own the full month-end close process, including the close calendar, quality standards, and timely, accurate financial reporting.
  • Prepare, review, and approve complex journal entries and document the technical accounting conclusions behind them.
  • Review account reconciliations and analyze significant variances, trends, and fluctuations.
  • Review work prepared by senior accountants and provide technical guidance and mentorship.
  • Serve as a primary point of contact for internal and external auditors.
  • Review partner agreements and revenue-sharing contracts to determine the appropriate accounting treatment.
  • Own revenue share calculations, supporting documentation, and claim tracking.
  • Validate revenue reconciliations to ensure revenue is recognized completely and accurately.
  • Partner with Product, Operations, Development, and Data teams on system configuration, testing, and new product launches.
  • Lead process improvement and automation initiatives to streamline the close.
  • Establish and maintain accounting policies, procedures, and process documentation.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting
  • 5+ years of progressive accounting experience
  • Public accounting experience (Big 4 or national firm strongly preferred)
  • Experience leading, coaching, or reviewing the work of accounting staff
  • Strong experience working with large, complex data sets
  • Comfort reading and interpreting contracts
  • Ability to work independently with minimal oversight
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to influence cross‑functional partners
