Job summary

Wyoming Department of Environmental Quality in Cheyenne seeks a lead accounting analyst to guide a team, oversee complex budgets, and ensure GAAP/GASB compliance across all funds.

You will train staff, manage grants, and provide financial forecasting and reporting to agency leadership, with a focus on internal controls and efficient processes. This is an exempt, full-time role with strong benefits.

Qualifications

• Lead the accounting analyst group and ensure departmental consistency and growth.
• GAAP/GASB compliance across General Fund, Special Revenue, and federal grants.
• Proven ability to analyze budgets, forecast finances, and manage complex grants.

Responsibilities

• Leadership & Training: lead accounting analyst group; oversee internal training for staff.
• Budget & Grant Administration: develop and manage major budgets and federal grant budgets.
• Grant Management: perform complex grant accounting and compliance tasks.
• Fiscal Cycle Oversight: manage year opening/closing and payroll budgets.
• Reporting & Auditing: track encumbrances; assist ACFR reporting.
• Forecasting & Analysis: provide advanced financial forecasting and budget analysis.
• Contract Management: draft and administer professional services contracts.
• Systems & Controls: develop accounting systems and internal controls.
