Job summary

BlackSky in Herndon, VA is seeking a Senior Accounting Manager to support the Accounting and Finance team. The role focuses on GAAP/SOX compliant close processes, policy development, and coordination with external auditors in a fast-paced, hybrid environment.

You will mentor staff, optimize controls, and drive automation while maintaining strict monthly, quarterly, and annual deadlines. A CPA and 8+ years of public or corporate accounting are highly valued.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• 8+ years of progressive accounting experience, public or corporate.
• Deep knowledge of US GAAP, internal controls, and SEC rules.
• Experience coordinating external audits for public companies.
• Strong communication and leadership abilities.

Responsibilities

• Ensure all financial records and reporting adhere to US GAAP and public company standards.
• Maintain and document internal controls in line with SOX requirements.
• Coordinate audit schedules and work with external public auditors.
• Supervise, mentor, and review staff and senior accountants.
• Collaborate with cross-functional partners to resolve discrepancies.
• Identify enhancements to accounting processes and automate where possible.
• Lead and support the accounting department on a day-to-day basis.
• Partner with teams to foster a positive and resilient employee experience.
• Maintain corporate internal control environment with other functions.
• Develop processes to ensure compliance and scalable growth.
