Job summary

BlackSky is seeking a Senior Accounting Manager to support the Accounting and Finance team. You will manage monthly and quarterly close, review policies, and support audits for a public company. The role is based in Herndon, VA with a hybrid schedule (in-office at least two days per week).

You will supervise staff, collaborate with business partners, ensure GAAP compliance, maintain internal controls, and drive process improvements while meeting tight deadlines.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• Eight years of progressive accounting experience, public company or Big Four preferred.
• Deep knowledge of U.S. GAAP, internal controls, and ERP systems.

Responsibilities

• Ensure all financial records and reporting adhere to US GAAP and public company standards.
• Maintain and test internal controls in line with SOX requirements.
• Coordinate audits with external public auditors.
• Supervise and mentor accounting staff and seniors.
• Collaborate with cross-functional partners to resolve discrepancies.
• Improve processes and automate accounting activities.
• Lead day-to-day multi-functional accounting operations.
