Job summary

BlackSky is seeking a detail-oriented Financial Reporting Manager in Herndon, VA to lead monthly/quarterly consolidated financial reporting under US GAAP and SEC rules. This hybrid role reports to the Senior Director of Financial Reporting & Systems and supports MD&A, footnotes, and SEC filing processes.

The ideal candidate has a CPA, 5+ years in public company accounting or technical accounting, experience with Workiva, and readiness to work in a fast-paced, multi-state environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in accounting is required.
• Active CPA license is required.
• Five+ years of experience in public company audit, financial reporting or technical accounting.
• Experience in Public Accounting is preferred.
• Advanced knowledge of U.S. GAAP and SEC regulations.
• Experience with Workiva is required.
• Strong analytical skills and business judgment.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong time management and ability to meet deadlines.
• Collaborative mindset and strong communication skills.
• Eligible to obtain US Security Clearance.

Responsibilities

• Prepare monthly and quarterly consolidated financial reporting packages (Balance Sheets, Statements of Operations, Cash Flows).
• Draft quarterly/annual footnote disclosures and MD&A.
• Maintain workpapers for SEC filings (10-K, 10-Q, proxy, 8-K).
• Assist Investor Relations with quarterly earnings release.
• Coordinate comments from legal, finance, management, and auditors during SEC cycles.
• Maintain/update XBRL tagging for filings.
• Complete GAAP and SEC disclosure checklists.
• Support audit process and respond to requests.
• Record journal entries for non-recurring/complex transactions.
• Support SOX controls and sub-certification.
• Conduct technical accounting research on significant transactions.
• Administer OneStream consolidations.
• Maintain accounting policies and implement new pronouncements.
