Job summary

BlackSky in Herndon, VA is seeking an experienced Accounting Manager to lead financial close, policy reviews, and audits for a publicly traded company. The role requires strong GAAP knowledge, SOX controls, and collaboration with external auditors.

You will supervise staff, partner with cross-functional teams, and drive process improvements for capital expenditures, fixed assets, and ERP systems while meeting tight monthly, quarterly, and annual deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance and eight+ years of accounting experience.
• Strong knowledge of US GAAP, internal controls and ERP systems.
• Experience with public company audits and SOX controls.
• Ability to meet strict monthly, quarterly, and annual deadlines.
• Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to lead staff and collaborate with partners.
• Active CPA certification is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Ensure GAAP compliance and regulatory reporting for a public company.
• Maintain, test, and document internal controls in line with SOX.
• Coordinate audit schedules and work with external auditors.
• Supervise and mentor staff accountants and review their work.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve discrepancies.
• Enhance processes and automate accounting workflows.
• Manage capital expenditures and fixed assets accounting.
• Support scalable growth through refined calculations and controls.
• Maintain a robust corporate internal control environment across teams.
