Senior Accounting Analyst, Finance Operations Accounting & Analysis

The Senior Accounting Analyst responsibilities include month-end activities and ensuring proper review of account balances for Amazon, along with the preparation and review of monthly, quarterly, and annual reconciliations and balance sheet analysis. This position supports management in all aspects of financial accounting, reporting systems, procedures, and policies. The Senior Staff Accountant manages responses to internal and external audits and ensures compliance with SOX requirements across all geographies and activities handled by Shared Services. Additionally, this role promotes system and process development within the department to enhance efficiency and controls.

The successful candidate will have a strong desire to innovate processes and exceed expectations in a dynamic, fast-paced environment, primarily driving innovation on behalf of our customers.

Key Job Responsibilities

1. Perform month-end activities, including closing of sub-ledgers, general ledger account reconciliations, reporting, and balance sheet analysis.
2. Ensure proper review of account balances for Amazon and highlight issues appropriately.
3. Ensure financial policies, procedures, and internal controls are in place, documented, and functioning as intended.
4. Respond to internal and external audit requirements and ensure SOX compliance across all regions and activities.
5. Resolve complex accounting issues and implement process controls.
6. Drive process improvements to enhance controls and the quality of reconciliations and related processes.
7. Build and monitor performance metrics, focusing on timely delivery of month-end reports, reconciliations, and other deliverables.
8. Maintain monthly communication and metrics reporting with Directors and VP-level business partners in finance operations, central accounting, and FOAA.
9. Participate in strategic initiatives and special projects as assigned.
10. Lead cross-functional system and process improvement initiatives.

Basic Qualifications

• CPA equivalent, with 6+ years of post-qualification experience in month-end closing, working with various sub-ledgers, and balance sheet reconciliation and reporting activities.
• Strong accounting skills and problem-solving abilities.
• Passion for operational excellence, process improvement, and simplification.
• Customer-focused mindset (internal and external).
• Strong work ethic and desire to exceed expectations.
• Excellent interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills.
• Expertise in Six Sigma defect reduction techniques (DMAIC, etc.).

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience accounting for digital products.
• Experience using Oracle Financial Applications.
• Retail industry experience.
