Job summary

BenchPrep is seeking a Staff/Senior Accountant for its remote Accounting team. You will maintain accurate financial records, prepare reports, analyze data, and ensure GAAP compliance.

Responsibilities include reconciliations, journal entries, AR/AP, billing, and budget variance analysis, with exposure to audits and tax prep. The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor’s degree in accounting, 3–8 years of experience depending on level, and strong Excel and communication skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting required or equivalent
• CPA preferred or active licensure considered a plus
• 3–5 years in accounting or auditing for staff role; 5–8 years for senior role
• Strong knowledge of GAAP and revenue recognition
• Excellent communication and analytical skills
• Ability to work both independently and in a team environment
• Proactive and detail-oriented with good organizational skills
• Experience with common accounting systems (NetSuite, Intacct, QuickBooks) preferred

Responsibilities

• Manage accounting functions including reconciliations, journal entries, AR/AP, and billing
• Analyze expenditures and allocate costs to departments; report findings
• Ensure GAAP compliance and proper revenue recognition
• Prepare and review financial statements and budget variance analysis
• Assist in budgets, year-end schedules, and tax return prep
• Identify process improvements to optimize accounting workflows
• Support external audits and regulatory compliance
