Job summary

BenchPrep is seeking a Staff/Senior Accountant to support its growing operations. This remote role reports to the Controller and focuses on maintaining accurate financial records, journal entries, reconciliations, AR/AP, and billing, while ensuring GAAP compliance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting; CPA preferred.
• 3–5 years as Staff Accountant or 5–8 years as Sr Accountant.
• Public accounting experience preferred.
• Strong GAAP knowledge and revenue recognition.
• Excellent communication and analytical skills.
• Ability to work independently and in a team.
• Detail-oriented with deadline-driven work.
• Advanced Excel skills.

Responsibilities

• Manage accounting function including reconciliations, journal entries, AR, AP, and Billing.
• Analyze expenditures and ensure proper allocation to departments; report as needed.
• Review transactions for GAAP compliance with company policies.
• Analyze billing for correct revenue recognition.
• Post monthly, quarterly, and yearly accruals in the GL.
• Assist in building financial statements: balance sheet, income statement, changes in financial position; variance analysis.
• Assist in budgets for management review.
• Prepare year-end schedules for tax returns.
• Look for ways to improve accounting processes and procedures.
