Job summary

BenchPrep is seeking a Staff/Senior Accountant to support its growing operations. The role focuses on maintaining accurate financial records, preparing reports, analyzing data, ensuring GAAP compliance, and contributing to budgets and audits.

The ideal candidate has a strong accounting background, 3–8 years of experience, CPA preferred, and excellent communication and Excel skills. This is a remote position reporting to the Controller.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting; CPA preferred.
• 3–5 years (Staff Accountant) or 5–8 years (Sr Accountant) in accounting or auditing; public accounting experience preferred.
• Team player with a positive attitude towards contributing and learning.
• Thorough knowledge of financial statement prep, GAAP, and revenue recognition.
• Strong verbal/written communication skills.
• Analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Independent and team-oriented, able to multitask.
• Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.

Responsibilities

• Manage accounting function including reconciliations, journal entries, AR, AP, and Billing.
• Analyze expenditures and allocate expenses to departments; report to departments.
• Ensure accounting treatment aligns with GAAP and policies.
• Analyze billing to ensure revenue recognition policies are applied.
• Post monthly, quarterly, and yearly accruals; review GL accounts.
• Assist in building financial statements and variance analyses.
• Assist in budget design and preparation for management review.
• Prepare year-end schedules for tax returns; support process improvements.
