Job summary

BenchPrep is seeking a Staff/Senior Accountant to join our remote accounting team. You’ll maintain records, perform reconciliations, prepare reports, and support budgeting and audits.

The ideal candidate has 3–8 years of accounting experience, strong GAAP knowledge, and proficiency with Excel. CPA preferred; experience with NetSuite, Intacct or QuickBooks is a plus. You’ll report to the Controller and contribute to continuous improvements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting; CPA preferred.
• 3-5 years (Staff Accountant) or 5-8 years (Sr Accountant) in accounting or auditing; public accounting experience preferred.
• Thorough knowledge of financial statement preparation, GAAP, and revenue recognition.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills; team-oriented and proactive.

Responsibilities

• Maintain accounting records with reconciliations, journal entries, AR, AP, and billing.
• Analyze expenditures and allocate costs to departments; report to respective teams.
• Ensure GAAP compliance and proper revenue recognition.
• Prepare and review general ledger entries, and accruals (monthly, quarterly, yearly).
• Assist in financial statements, budgeting, variance analysis, and year-end tax schedules.
• Support budgets and process improvements across accounting functions.
