Job summary

BenchPrep is seeking a Staff/Senior Accountant to support its growing operations. This remote role reports to the Controller and focuses on maintaining accurate financial records, reporting, budgeting, and ensuring GAAP compliance.

The ideal candidate has 3–5 years (Staff) or 5–8 years (Sr) in accounting, strong analytical skills, and proficiency in Excel and accounting systems like NetSuite, Intacct, or QuickBooks. CPA preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting; CPA preferred.
• 3-5 years (Staff Accountant), or 5-8 (Sr Accountant) years in accounting or auditing; public accounting experience preferred.
• Strong verbal/written communication skills.
• Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel.

Responsibilities

• Manage accounting function including account reconciliations, journal entries, AR, AP, and Billing.
• Analyze and review company expenditures and report to departments.
• Review transactions for GAAP compliance with policies and procedures.
• Analyze billing transactions to align with revenue recognition policies.
• Post monthly, quarterly, and yearly accruals in the general ledger.
• Assist in building financial statements and budget variance analysis.
• Prepare year-end schedules for annual tax returns.
• Look for ways to improve accounting processes.
