Job summary

Genesee & Wyoming Inc. is seeking a qualified accountant to prepare financial statements, consolidate reports, and support closing processes in a fast‑paced environment.

This role analyzes reserves, assets, and expenditures while assisting with forecasts and budgets, and ensures adherence to internal controls. Applicants should have CPA certification, a bachelor’s in accounting, and strong communication skills to collaborate across departments.

Qualifications

• Four or more years of related work experience is a plus.
• Ability to identify and resolve problems in a timely manner and analyze information.
• Strong interpersonal and communications skills for clear, persuasive interactions.
• Ability to work as part of a team and uphold organizational values.

Responsibilities

• Assist in closing and reporting, journal entries, GL analysis, and variance analysis.
• Evaluate technical accounting implications of nonroutine events and transactions.
• Communicate and coordinate with other departments.
• Prepare balance sheet analyses and ensure internal controls compliance.
• Participate in audits and support special projects as needed.
