Genesee & Wyoming Railroad Services, Inc. in Jacksonville, FL is seeking a Senior Accountant to join the Accounting team.

This role reports to the Manager, Accounting and focuses on accounting, compliance, reporting and analysis, ensuring timely, accurate financial information. Key tasks include closing and reporting, journal entries, GL reconciliations, cross-department coordination, audits, and supporting management with monthly deliverables.

Qualifications

• Railroad experience is not required.
• Four or more years of related work experience is a plus.
• Self-motivated individual capable of driving change and managing multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to identify and resolve problems, analyze information effectively and develop solutions.
• Strong interpersonal skills, including written and verbal communication.
• Ability to work as part of a team and uphold integrity and respect.

Responsibilities

• Assist in all phases of closing and reporting including journal entries, GL reconciliation and variance analysis.
• Coordinate with other departments and operational personnel for accounting support.
• Support accounting management and mentor accountants on tasks and monthly deliverables.
• Ensure compliance with policies, procedures and internal controls.
• Prepare for and participate in internal and external audits.
• Contribute to team effort by achieving related results as needed.
