Job summary

Vertex Education in Arizona is seeking a Lead Accountant to ensure accurate accounting for schools and nonprofit clients. You will own complex close processes, multi-entity transactions, and GAAP-compliant reporting while coaching junior staff and driving process improvements.

You will work with client management and audit teams to enhance financial transparency. Ideal candidates hold a bachelor's in accounting, 4+ years of progressive accounting experience, and familiarity with Sage Intacct.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field required.
• CPA or progress toward CPA is a plus.
• Experience with monthly close, reconciliations, and audit prep.

Responsibilities

• Lead the monthly close for complex client entities.
• Handle multi-entity and intercompany transactions.
• Provide technical accounting research and memos.
• Coach and develop junior accountants.
• Support client onboarding, transitions, and audits.
• Collaborate with Payroll, AP, Client Management and Compliance.
