Job summary

Vertex Education is seeking a Lead Accountant to ensure accurate and transparent financial close for multiple client entities. You will own complex accounting work, apply GAAP, and provide day-to-day guidance to junior staff while supporting onboarding, audits, and process improvements.

You will report to an Accounting Manager or Senior Accounting Manager and help drive cross-functional collaboration with Payroll, AP, and Client Management.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in accounting or equivalent required.
• CPA or progress toward CPA preferred.
• Experience: 4+ years of progressive accounting, close, reconciliations, and audit prep.

Responsibilities

• Lead the monthly close for complex client entities, prepare journal entries and adjustments.
• Prepare and review balance-sheet reconciliations and analyze variances.
• Perform high-judgment close issues and intercompany activity resolution.
• Prepare technical memos and documentation for auditors and reviewers.
• Support onboarding, transitions, and process improvements for client entities.
