Job summary

Valmont Industries in Houston seeks a Senior Accountant to support financial operations at United Galvanizing’s facility. The role maintains accurate records, drives cost and inventory accounting, and supports decision making in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Reporting to the Controller and collaborating with the General Manager and corporate finance, you will perform month-end close, reconciliations, reporting, and budgeting activities to ensure compliance with GAAP and audit

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree with 5+ years of GL accounting or 7+ years with an associate degree
• 2+ years of general ledger accounting, reconciliations and internal controls
• Strong MS Excel, Word, Outlook, Access and PowerPoint skills
• Detail oriented, analytical and able to work in a matrix environment
• Excellent time management and ability to drive accuracy and deadlines

Responsibilities

• Perform full cycle month, quarter and year end closing and post journal entries
• Reconcile balance sheet accounts and report variances to stakeholders
• Prepare monthly financial reports and management summaries
• Support inventory accounting, cycle counts and annual physicals
• Maintain fixed asset ledgers, capex tracking and depreciation
• Manage accounts payable processing and approvals
• Ensure compliance with GAAP and audit requirements
• Assist plant leadership with budgeting, forecasting and cost analysis
• Analyze operations data and drive continuous improvement initiatives
