Job summary

Forgent Power Solutions, Inc. is seeking a Senior Accountant to perform advanced accounting activities, support month-end closes, and prepare financial reports from its Vernon, CA office.

This role partners with Finance leadership to improve processes, support audits, and provide financial insights to cross-functional teams. The Senior Accountant will manage journal entries, reconciliations, payroll accounting, and internal controls, ensuring accuracy and adherence to GAAP.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related field.
• 3–5 years of progressive accounting experience.
• Public accounting experience.
• Publicly traded company work experience.
• Strong understanding of GAAP and general ledger accounting.
• Experience with financial reporting and month-end close.
• Proficiency in Excel and accounting systems (Syteline experience preferred).

Responsibilities

• Prepare and review monthly journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial statements.
• Lead components of the month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes.
• Maintain general ledger accounts and ensure compliance with GAAP.
• Manage and reconcile accruals, prepaids, fixed assets, leases, and inventory-related entries.
• Prepare balance sheet schedules and research variances or discrepancies.
• Support budgeting and forecasting activities by providing accurate financial data and insights.
• Assist with accounting for payroll, including journal entries and reconciliations.
• Coordinate with internal and external auditors and prepare required documentation.
• Ensure compliance with state and local sales/use tax filings and other regulatory requirements.
• Maintain and improve accounting processes and internal controls.
• Assist with cost accounting functions where applicable (inventory, standard costing, variance analysis).
• Support cross-functional teams with financial analysis and reporting.

Key Responsibilities
