Job summary

Vaco is seeking an experienced Senior Accountant to support day-to-day accounting operations in a growing organization. This hands-on role covers month-end close, financial reporting, payroll, AP/AR, and reconciliations.

The ideal candidate will have 5+ years of accounting experience, strong GAAP knowledge, and proficiency with QuickBooks/ERP systems. Onsite, full-time opportunity based in Irvine, CA.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred.
• 5+ years of accounting experience.
• Strong general ledger and month-end close experience.
• Experience preparing journal entries and account reconciliations.
• Hands-on AP, AR, and payroll experience.
• Understanding of financial statements and financial reporting.
• Experience with budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis.
• Proficiency with QuickBooks and/or ERP systems.
• Strong Microsoft Excel skills.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Perform general ledger accounting and maintain accurate financial records.
• Support the month-end close process, including journal entries, accruals, prepaids, depreciation, and deferred revenue.
• Prepare balance sheet, bank, and credit card reconciliations.
• Manage accounts payable, vendor invoices, and payment processing.
• Support accounts receivable, including billing, cash applications, and collections.
• Process bi-weekly payroll, including commissions, bonuses, overtime, deductions, and employee changes.
• Prepare monthly financial statements and management reports.
• Ensure revenue and expenses are recorded accurately and timely.
• Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and financial projections.
• Coordinate with external accounting partners on quarterly and annual tax requirements.
• Prepare year-end schedules and support annual tax filings.
• Support 1099 preparation and filing.
• Assist with payroll, retirement plan, workers’ compensation, and other audits.
• Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes and internal controls.

Key Responsibilities
