Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Senior Accountant for an immediate contract-to-hire opportunity with an established company in the medical equipment industry located in Northwest Houston.

This position will support a corporate accounting team with month-end close, payroll and commission accounting, lease accounting, accruals, and internal financial reporting. The ideal candidate is a hands-on accounting professional who can independently manage assigned responsibilities, work effectively in a team environment, and contribute immediately.

Key Responsibilities

Manage assigned areas of the month-end close process, including preparing and reviewing journal entries and accruals.

Handle payroll-related accounting activities, including calculating employee commissions and preparing commission accruals.

Coordinate with payroll to ensure accurate and timely commission payments on a biweekly basis.

Perform lease accounting activities and maintain accurate supporting records.

Prepare accounts payable accruals for invoices received after the accounting period closes.

Prepare internal financial reports and perform variance analysis to identify and explain differences between reported results and actuals.

Maintain accurate general ledger records and supporting accounting documentation.

Collaborate with the Accounting Manager, Controller, and other accounting team members to support timely and accurate financial reporting.

Qualifications

Strong corporate accounting or general ledger accounting experience, preferably at the Senior Accountant level.

Hands-on experience with month-end close, journal entries, and accrual accounting.

Experience with payroll accounting and commission calculations or accruals strongly preferred.

Experience with lease accounting and financial reporting.

Strong analytical skills and the ability to perform financial variance analysis.

Proficiency with accounting systems and Microsoft Excel.

Ability to independently manage assigned responsibilities while working collaboratively with a team.

Availability to start quickly and work onsite during the initial training period.

Preferred Qualifications:

Previous accounting experience in the healthcare or medical equipment industry.
