Job summary

Vaco by Highspring is seeking a Senior Accountant to deliver high-quality accounting services across a portfolio of clients with varying complexity. You will oversee core accounting activities, support month-end and year-end closes, investigate discrepancies, and ensure accurate financial reporting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required.
• 4+ years of progressive accounting experience, with a strong foundation in general ledger accounting, account reconciliations, and financial reporting.
• Demonstrated experience performing accounting cleanup, resolving historical discrepancies, improving accounting processes, or correcting deficiencies in existing accounting records.
• Strong understanding of how transactions flow through the general ledger and impact the income statement, balance sheet, and cash flow statement.
• Ability to investigate complex accounting issues, identify root causes, and develop appropriate corrective actions.
• Experience with month-end close, journal entries, accruals, balance sheet reconciliations, and financial statement preparation.
• Exposure to multiple clients, industries, or business environments is highly desirable.

Our client is a growing professional services firm that provides outsourced and fractional finance and accounting support to small and midmarket businesses. Working with organizations across a variety of industries, including inventory-driven businesses, retail, and manufacturing, the firm delivers hands‑on accounting expertise, financial reporting, and process improvement solutions tailored to each client’s needs.

The Senior Accountant will play a key role in delivering high-quality accounting services across a portfolio of clients with varying levels of complexity. This individual will be responsible for overseeing core accounting activities, supporting month‑end and year‑end close processes, investigating discrepancies, and ensuring the integrity of financial reporting.

The ideal candidate brings a strong foundation in general ledger accounting and financial reporting, coupled with the ability to identify and resolve underlying accounting issues. Experience cleaning up disorganized books, reconciling complex accounts, correcting historical errors, and implementing process improvements is particularly important.
