Vaco by Highspring is seeking a hands-on Senior Staff Accountant to join the Irvine accounting team. The ideal candidate will own month-end close, review journal entries, perform reconciliations, and ensure US GAAP compliance while partnering with cross-functional teams.

This role requires 5+ years in progressive accounting, experience with large ERP systems, and strong Excel skills. Hybrid schedule in Irvine, CA area with some onsite collaboration.

Qualifikationen

• Strong GL, month-end close, reconciliations, and financial reporting skills.
• Experience with large ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, MS Dynamics, NetSuite, Workday) and advanced Excel.

About the Opportunity

Our client is seeking a hands-on Senior Staff Accountant to join a growing accounting team in the Irvine area. This role is ideal for an experienced accounting professional who thrives in fast-paced, evolving environments and enjoys tackling challenges, improving processes, and helping bring structure to complex accounting operations.

The ideal candidate has experience supporting organizations with $500M+ in annual revenue, working within multi-entity or multi-location environments, and navigating periods of transformation, integration, or accounting clean-up initiatives. This position offers the opportunity to make a meaningful impact while partnering closely with accounting leadership and cross-functional teams.

Key Responsibilities

• Own and execute month-end and year-end close activities, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting
• Prepare and review journal entries, account reconciliations, accruals, and supporting schedules
• Maintain the integrity of the general ledger and ensure compliance with US GAAP
• Analyze balance sheet and income statement accounts and investigate discrepancies
• Lead or participate in accounting clean-up projects, process improvements, and remediation efforts
• Support audit requests and coordinate with external auditors
• Partner with business leaders and operational teams to resolve accounting issues and improve financial processes
• Assist with financial reporting, variance analysis, and management reporting packages
• Help identify opportunities to strengthen controls, streamline workflows, and improve data accuracy
• Contribute to ERP optimizations, implementations, upgrades, or system-related initiatives as needed

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
• 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including Senior Accountant or Senior Staff Accountant responsibilities
• Prior accounting experience within a complex, multi-location and/or multi-entity organization required
• Experience working for companies with $500M+ annual revenue
• Proven ability to succeed in challenging, ambiguous, or \"clean-up\" environments where processes and controls require enhancement
• Strong general ledger, month-end close, reconciliation, and financial reporting experience
• Experience with large ERP systems such as SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics, NetSuite, Workday, or similar platforms
• Advanced Excel skills including Pivot Tables, XLOOKUP/VLOOKUP, and data analysis
• Strong attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and ability to work independently
• Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate across departments

Schedule: Full-Time | Hybrid / Limited Onsite (1-2 days per week)
