Empath Health in Florida is seeking a Senior Accountant to join our finance team, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and integrity of financial reporting across a multi-entity healthcare system.

The role covers financial reporting, regulatory compliance, consolidations, and process improvement, collaborating with leadership to strengthen internal controls and inform decision-making. Requires CPA preferred, 5+ years GL experience, and proficiency in Excel and Workday.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field is required; CPA strongly preferred.
• 5+ years of progressive general ledger accounting experience (healthcare experience preferred).
• Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting processes.
• Experience with Workday and MS Office applications.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and review monthly financial statements, account reconciliations, and supporting schedules to ensure accuracy and timeliness
• Lead key accounting processes including consolidations, overhead allocations, accrual analysis, and general ledger activity
• Support regulatory compliance efforts, including cost reports, grant reporting, audits, and tax-related filings
• Partner with internal stakeholders to improve financial reporting accuracy, strengthen internal controls, and support operational decision-making
• Perform detailed financial analysis, research complex accounting issues, and apply appropriate accounting treatment across diverse scenarios
• Provide guidance, oversight, and quality assurance for general ledger staff and accounting processes

Empath Health is seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Senior Accountant to join our finance team. In this role, you will serve as a key contributor to the accuracy, integrity, and timeliness of financial reporting across a complex, multi-entity healthcare organization.

This position offers the opportunity to work on a broad range of accounting functions—including financial reporting, regulatory compliance, consolidations, and process improvement, while partnering with leadership and operational teams to enhance financial stewardship and decision-making. The ideal candidate is both analytical and collaborative, with the ability to operate at a high level while also rolling up their sleeves to support day-to-day accounting operations.

Location: On-site, must reside near our Sarasota or Brandon Empath Health office.

What You’ll Need

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field; CPA strongly preferred
• 5+ years of progressive general ledger accounting experience (public accounting or healthcare experience preferred)
• Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, and account reconciliation processes
• Advanced proficiency in Excel and Microsoft Office , with experience in Workday accounting systems (required)
• Proven ability to analyze complex financial data, solve problems, and manage multiple priorities
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate across teams
