Job summary

Empath Health in Florida is seeking an experienced accounting professional to lead core GL processes, prepare monthly statements, and ensure accurate financial reporting for a not-for-profit healthcare network. The role requires a Bachelor’s in accounting, CPA preferred, 5+ years in GL/accounting, and proficiency in Excel and Workday, with strong GAAP knowledge.

Location

Location: On-site, must reside near our Sarasota or Brandon Empath Health office.

What you’ll Do

• Prepare and review monthly financial statements, account reconciliations, and supporting schedules to ensure accuracy and timeliness
• Lead key accounting processes including consolidations, overhead allocations, accrual analysis, and general ledger activity
• Support regulatory compliance efforts, including cost reports, grant reporting, audits, and tax-related filings
• Partner with internal stakeholders to improve financial reporting accuracy, strengthen internal controls, and support operational decision-making
• Perform detailed financial analysis, research complex accounting issues, and apply appropriate accounting treatment across diverse scenarios
• Provide guidance, oversight, and quality assurance for general ledger staff and accounting processes

What You’ll Need

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field
• CPA strongly preferred
• 5+ years of progressive general ledger accounting experience (public accounting or healthcare experience preferred)
• Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, and account reconciliation processes
• Advanced proficiency in Excel and Microsoft Office, with experience in Workday accounting systems (required)
• Proven ability to analyze complex financial data, solve problems, and manage multiple priorities
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate across teams
