Job summary

Ascendo-Resources is helping a growing PE-backed fire and life safety company in Austin, TX recruit a Senior Accountant / Project Accountant. The role focuses on hands-on project accounting, close processes, and transitioning from QuickBooks to NetSuite to support rapid acquisition activity.

The ideal candidate will cover a full spectrum of accounting duties from monthly close to complex project cost accounting, with exposure to AIA billing and percentage-of-completion revenue recognition.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• 4+ years of progressive accounting experience.
• Strong U.S. GAAP and month-end close experience.
• Strong journal entry and balance sheet reconciliation skills.
• Construction/project accounting experience — required.
• WIP, percentage-of-completion, job costing, and AIA billing experience — required.
• Advanced Excel skills.
• Self-motivated, analytical, and comfortable working independently.

Responsibilities

• Own key aspects of the monthly close, including journal entries, accruals, and reconciliations.
• Perform job costing, WIP reporting, and project accounting.
• Handle percentage-of-completion revenue recognition and AIA billing.
• Analyze project margins and investigate variances.
• Support AR/AP, billing, and collections.
• Prepare financial reports and account reconciliations.
• Assist with audits and financial reporting.
• Identify opportunities to automate and improve accounting processes.
• Support the transition from QuickBooks to NetSuite.
• Assist with acquisition integration and accounting process improvements.

A growing, private-equity-backed fire and life safety company is seeking a Senior Accountant / Project Accountant to join its Austin accounting team. This is a hands-on opportunity to join a growing organization that is actively acquiring and integrating businesses and building out its accounting infrastructure.

The ideal candidate is a doer who enjoys working independently, digging into the numbers, and improving processes.

Responsibilities:

• Own key aspects of the monthly close, including journal entries, accruals, and reconciliations
