Job summary

Our client, a commercial construction company based in Austin, TX, seeks a detail-oriented Accountant to maintain accurate financial records and support month-end close, general ledger, and project accounting activities.

You will partner with project managers and operations to monitor costs, assist budgeting and forecasting, and ensure GAAP compliance and timely financial reporting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• 3+ years of progressive accounting experience; construction industry preferred.
• Strong understanding of GAAP and financial reporting.
• Experience with job-cost accounting, WIP, or project-based accounting.
• Advanced Excel skills and experience with accounting/ERP systems.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Manage general ledger activity, journal entries, accruals, and reconciliations.
• Support month-end close and financial statement preparation.
• Monitor project costs, budgets, forecasts, and profitability.
• Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis.

Job description

Our client is a commercial Construction company based in Austin, TX. This position will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records and supporting the company’s overall financial operations. This role will support month-end close, general ledger accounting, job-cost accounting, financial reporting, budgeting, and analysis.

The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, analytical, and able to partner effectively with both accounting and operational teams.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage general ledger activity, journal entries, accruals, reconciliations, and financial records.
• Build relationships with project managers and manage job cost accounting initiatives.
• Support monthly and year-end close processes and financial statement preparation.
• Perform bank, credit card, and balance sheet reconciliations.
• Monitor project/job costs, budgets, forecasts, and profitability.
• Assist with budgeting, forecasting, financial analysis, and process improvements.
• Ensure compliance with GAAP, company policies, and applicable tax requirements.
• Partner with operational teams and management to resolve financial discrepancies and provide financial insight.
• Support audits, tax filings, and other financial reporting requirements.

Qualifications
