Job summary

Ascendo Resources is seeking a Project Accountant to work on-site in Austin, TX, reporting to the Director of Accounting. You will own core elements of the monthly close and the general ledger, including journal entries, reconciliations, and AR/AP oversight, with exposure to multi-entity financial processes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• 4+ years of progressive accounting experience with U.S. GAAP and the monthly close process.
• Experience preparing journal entries and performing balance sheet reconciliations.
• Construction accounting experience, including percentage-of-completion (POC) revenue recognition and work-in-process reporting is a must.
• Proficiency with Excel.

Responsibilities

• Prepare, review, and post monthly closing journal entries, including accruals, prepaids, payroll, and recurring entries
• Perform and document monthly balance sheet account reconciliations; research and resolve reconciling items on a timely basis
• Oversee accounts receivable processes, including customer invoicing, cash application, collections support, and AR aging review
• Oversee accounts payable processes, including vendor invoice processing, approval workflow, payment runs, and vendor account reconciliation
• Support the monthly close calendar to ensure deliverables are completed accurately and on schedule
• Assist in the preparation of monthly financial statements and supporting schedules for management review
• Maintain and improve accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls; identify and implement process improvements as the business scales
• Support job cost and work-in-process reporting, including percentage-of-completion revenue recognition, where applicable
• Assist with audit requests, tax support schedules, and other external reporting requirements
• Participate in acquisition integration activities, including opening balance sheet support, chart of accounts mapping, and onboarding of acquired entities onto standard processes and systems
• Partner with operations and field leadership to resolve accounting questions and ensure accurate financial reporting

Growing fire protection and life safety company that operates in deliver inspection, testing, maintenance, installation, and construction services to commercial and industrial customers across the country is seeking a Project Accountant to work on-site in Austin, Texas 78754 and work closely with the Director of Accounting. This exciting role offers exposure to multi-entity accounting, acquisition integration, and the build-out of financial processes and systems at a company in its early innings.

The Project Accountant will own core elements of the monthly close and the day-to-day integrity of the general ledger. The Senior Accountant will prepare and post closing journal entries, reconcile balance sheet accounts, and provide oversight of accounts receivable and accounts payable processes across the platform.

The ideal Project Accountant holds the following :

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
