The University of Texas at Austin invites applications for a Senior Academic Advisor in the College of Liberal Arts on the UT Main Campus. The role provides academic advising to Government majors and supports degree progress and policy navigation for undergraduates.

Responsibilities include routine and registration advising, developmental and orientation advising, collaboration with staff and faculty, and professional development opportunities.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree and six years of experience working with college students or Master's degree and four years of experience.
  • Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.

Responsibilities

  • ROUTINE ACADEMIC ADVISING: Understand and communicate requirements and options to facilitate student progress toward degree.
  • REGISTRATION ADVISING/ENROLLMENT MANAGEMENT: Advise during registration; assist with course selection and degree progress.
  • DEVELOPMENTAL ADVISING: Help students identify educational, life, and career goals and create graduation plans.
  • ORIENTATION ADVISING: Advise incoming students at spring, summer, fall orientations and assist with first semester registration.
  • DEPARTMENT COLLABORATION: Interface with faculty leadership and staff to ensure course access and program success.
  • TEAM SUPPORT/COMMUNICATION: Participate in meetings, provide metrics, and assist with materials and inquiries.
  • PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT: Attend meetings and trainings related to advising and university procedures.
  • UNIVERSITY SERVICE: Serve on committees and support college programs and events.
