Job summary

The University of Texas at Austin (UT Austin) seeks an Associate Academic Advisor in the McKetta Department of Chemical Engineering to support undergraduate student success through advising, program coordination, and outreach on the UT Main Campus.

The role collaborates with faculty and staff to enhance degree completion, manages scholarships and awards, coordinates tutoring programs, and contributes to data reporting and departmental events and engagement.

Qualifications

• Master's degree with two (2) years of experience working with students in an academic capacity OR
• Bachelor's degree with four (4) years experience working with college students in an academic capacity
• Strong organizational, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide individual and group academic advising to undergraduate Chemical Engineering students.
• Monitor degree progress and assist students with academic planning, registration, and university policies.
• Develop advising materials and resources.
• Connect students with appropriate university resources and support services.
• Administer department-level undergraduate research awards, scholarships, and cash prizes, including coordination of nomination and selection processes.
