Job summary

The University of Texas at Arlington seeks an experienced academic advisor to deliver direct advising to individuals and groups, enhancing student retention and completion. You will assist with onboarding and supervising a small team of advisors and support staff.

You will conduct advising via in-person, virtual, phone, and email, guiding students on degree requirements, course selection, and educational/career goal setting.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree with four years of advising experience or equivalent.
• Experience working with college students in an academic advising capacity.
• Familiarity with NACADA and TEXAAN guidelines (preferred).

Responsibilities

• Conducts academic advising for current and prospective students using multiple modalities.
• Guides degree requirements, course selection, and goal setting for students.
• Tracks academic progress and provides proactive, just-in-time assistance.
• Analyzes student data, transcripts, and placement results.
• Prepares reports and contributes to program assessment and improvement.
• Provides training and onboarding for new advisors and may supervise a small team.
