Job summary

First Solar is seeking a Production Coater Technician I in Alabama. This role starts the coating stage of the manufacturing process for photovoltaic modules and requires safe operation of equipment, active quality control, and teamwork on the floor.

You will perform basic preventive maintenance, respond to alarms, assist with data collection (SPC) and training as needed, and support the shift leads to maintain material flow and efficient production.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Preference for Associate’s degree or certificate in a technical discipline.
• 2+ years of manufacturing experience.
• Experience that may substitute direct manufacturing experience (warehousing, textile, agriculture, material inspection).
• Internal candidates require 60 internal credits or equivalent training and supervisor endorsement.

Responsibilities

• Safely operates and maintains tools and equipment to meet quality and productivity goals.
• Completes training within required timeframes and assists team members.
• Performs maintenance with hand tools and measurement devices.
• Monitors process data and alarms, escalating as needed.
• Interacts with machine control panels and supports cross-functional problem solving.

Education

High School Diploma or GED

Associate’s degree or certificate in a technical discipline

2+ years of manufacturing experience

Experience substitute areas: warehousing, textile, agriculture, or material inspection

Honorable military experience in electrical/mechanical/chemical applications (for external candidates)
