Job summary

Vizient, Inc. seeks a seasoned ontology engineer to develop and maintain semantic models that enable high-quality, interoperable data across the organization.

You will translate business concepts into scalable semantic models, support knowledge graph development and integration, and collaborate with product, data, and business clients to ensure semantic assets are documented, governed, validated, and production-ready.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of relevant ontology and semantic modeling experience.
• Hands-on knowledge of RDF, OWL, SKOS, SPARQL, SHACL.
• Experience with graph databases/triplestores and semantic modeling.
• Experience with data integration and semantic-to-data mapping.
• Familiarity with ontology tools like Protégé, TopBraid, PoolParty, Stardog.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain ontologies, vocabularies, and semantic models.
• Translate client use cases into competency questions and semantic requirements.
• Collaborate with SMEs and technical teams to refine concepts and standards.
• Support knowledge graph development and integration with enterprise data platforms.
• Perform validation, constraints checks, and quality controls for semantic assets.
• Manage ontology changes with version control, reviews, and release practices.
• Develop ontology documentation, patterns, and usage guidance.
• Partner with data engineering, platform, product, analytics, and AI teams.
• Apply ontologies and standards to enterprise use cases while balancing scalability.
• Develop automation, testing, and semantic pipeline integrations.
