Job summary

Vizient, Inc. in Irving, TX is seeking a senior Ontology Engineer to develop and maintain semantic ontologies and models that enable high-quality, interoperable data across the organization.

You will translate business concepts into scalable semantic representations and contribute to knowledge graph development and AI-enabled solutions. Collaborate with product, data, and analytics teams to document, govern, and production‑ize semantic assets, applying standards such as RDF/OWL and tools like

Qualifications

• Experience with Semantic Web standards and technologies (RDF/OWL/SKOS/SHACL).
• Hands-on with graph databases and triplestores; semantic modeling and query performance.
• Experience integrating disparate datasets via semantic mappings and validation.
• Proficiency with ontology tools and workflows (Protégé, TopBraid, PoolParty, Stardog).
• Familiarity with foundational/top-level ontologies (BFO, DOLCE, OBO Foundry).
• Programming knowledge (Python/Java) to support automation and semantic pipelines.
• Experience with Git-based version control, CI/CD, testing and validation.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain ontologies, vocabularies, and semantic models aligned with analytics needs.
• Translate client use cases into semantic requirements and implementable models.
• Collaborate with SMEs and technical teams to refine concepts and standards.
• Support knowledge graph development and integration with enterprise data platforms.
• Perform validation, constraint checks, and quality controls for semantic assets.
• Manage ontology changes via version control, reviews, testing, and documentation.
• Develop ontology documentation, modeling patterns, and usage guidance.
• Partner with data engineering, platform, analytics, and AI teams to align knowledge representation.
